Chickens on the Homestead

Chickens on the Homestead! Our mobile chicken coop is finished and we’re happy to bring chickens back to the homestead. Our adventure with chickens started in March 2023 when the chicks arrived in the mail. We have Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rocks, and Golden Laced Wyandottes. We raised them from chicks in our bathroom (not recommended) as we designed and built their coop over winter. All lay light brown, delicious eggs for us, our friends, and neighbors. We did, however, end up with two gorgeous but aggressive roosters who no longer reside with the flock. They were great herders but not very friendly so . . . they are now in the freezer.
