About Wolf and Fox Winery
at Woelfel Homestead
Wolf and Fox Winery was founded by Jon Woelfel and Kerri Futch on the Woelfel Homestead, a family farm that has been cared for by six generations of the Woelfel family. We are located within the Wisconsin Ledge AVA, an extension of the greater Niagara Escarpment formation that stretches from Wisconsin to New York. Our focus is to grow cold hardy grapes and produce exceptional regional wines. Additionally, land stewardship informs our decisions and motivates us to cultivate a diverse, sustainable farm, which includes a vineyard, orchards, livestock pasture, and various gardens. We look forward to opening the barn door to share our wine and love for this land.

Our History
The story of the Woelfel Homestead began in 1857 when George Woelfel, an immigrant from Rollhofen, Germany, purchased 80 acres of land in Charlestown, Wisconsin to start a dairy farm. The farm has been in the family and lovingly maintained by his descendants ever since. Over the last 15 years, Jon's parents, Roger and Cathy Woelfel, hosted family weddings, reunions, and private gatherings at the farm.
Jon Woelfel (6th generation) grew up mending fence, picking stones, and milking cows in the barn with his dad and grandpa, just as they did with theirs. He moved away to pursue his dream of making wine on the west coast but the call to return home to the farm could not be ignored and the timing was right for Woelfel Homestead to welcome guests again. With much family support and encouragement, Jon and wife Kerri re-opened the barn doors in June 2024 as a winery and event venue that honors the rich agricultural history and pristine beauty of this area.
